Description
This dreamy, watery, impressionist image of bright spring-time daffodils is the result of photographing these lovelies through glass. It seems especially appropriate with the all of the recent spring rain.
It just seems natural to think happy with daffodils. This may be because daffodil arrives among the first flowers in the early spring, about the time one thinks winter may never end. Just like the first rays of bright sunshine, daffodil energies enhance positive energy and thaw out sorrow.
Known by the Latin name narcissus, daffodils sunny energy is associated with beneficent beings of light, harmony and renewal. In some countries, the daffodil is symbolic of Easter and a trumpet calling forth the good news. In Germany, the word for daffodil is osterglocke, which means Easter bell.
Narcissus is a spring-flowering perennial that is grown from bulbs. They are commonly known as daffodil, and jonquil, besides narcissus. Native to meadows and woods around the world, they are easy to grow and propagate in gardens and landscapes. Arising from the bulbs, the leafless stems appear first. The distinctive flowers have a central cup, surrounded by a halo of 6 petals, called a perianth. Flower colors range from white to yellow to deep orange. Many variations, including double and triple segments have been developed by breeders.

Creating portals of light, love, joy, beauty, compassion, hope and gratitude is my lifelong passion and gift for the earth, hence the name of my art business, For the Earth. My mother painted in oils when I was young and encouraged my own drawing, painting and handcrafting in all forms. My father, the photographer, gave me my first camera at age 8. As a result of these loving influences, I am a lifelong student of both mediums. I am grateful to my wonderful Pacific NW painter teachers, Stan Capon and Edi Olson, for training my eye and technique. I hope you will enjoy this image as much as I enjoyed its creation.
