Description
The Endangered Bears image is a watercolor that evokes the tenderness between mother and cub. Here’s hope that the seven generations to come may know these magnificent creatures.
The bear has always been a powerful symbol for humans. As a symbol, the bear is linked to the stars through Ursus Major, The Great Bear and to the moon through its association with Diana, Goddess of the Moon. It is a symbol for alchemy and all initial stages and primal instincts. Native American peoples often thought of the bear as kin because it can stand and walk on two legs. Many believe that the bear and the wolf are among the last true symbols of the untamed natural world. Bears teach us how to go inside and awaken our native potential and to come out again to bring forth this potential. The polar bear is the best hunter of the bear family. Its only enemy is the human; thus, it has no fear. The polar bear’s native range is mostly within the Arctic Circle, a narrow ecological niche. The polar bear body is adapted for extreme cold, for moving across snow, ice and water and for hunting seals. Born on land, they spend most of their time on sea ice that is shrinking with climate change and global warming. They are classified as marine mammals due to their dependence on the sea ice.

Creating portals of light, love, joy, beauty, compassion, hope and gratitude is my lifelong passion and gift for the earth, hence the name of my art business, For the Earth. My mother painted in oils when I was young and encouraged my own drawing, painting and handcrafting in all forms. My father, the photographer, gave me my first camera at age 8. Because of these loving influences, I am a lifelong student of both mediums. I am grateful to my wonderful Pacific NW painter teachers, Stan Capon and Edi Olson, for training my eye and technique. I hope you will enjoy this image as much as I enjoyed its creation. More gifts for the earth can be found at this website, jeanette-french.pixels.com.
