Grandparents are most often associated with love and affection for their children’s children and for providing recognition, acceptance, strength, and guidance and support. Many grandparents have assumed responsibility for child care and support throughout history.
Terms of affection, Grandparent, Grandpa, Gramps, Gran, Grandpap, Granddaddy, Pop, Pappa, and Nannan are some of the most common variations in naming a grandfather in the United States, Canada, and Australia. When there are two living sets of grandparents, some families add the first name of the grandparent, Grandpa George.
The origin of the term, grand, dates to the 13th century, the Anglo-French graund. In the United States, here is a National Grandparents Day, proclaimed in 1977 to honor grandparents.

Creating portals of light, love, joy, beauty, compassion, hope and gratitude is my lifelong passion and purpose. My mother painted when i was young and encouraged drawing and painting and handcrafting in all forms and my father, the photographer, gave me my first camera at age 8.
